Mobilising investments for water and sanitation enterprises through carbon credits

For over 8 years, Aqua for All has supported carbon credit trajectories for water enterprises in India and Ethiopia.

For over 8 years, Aqua for All has supported carbon credit trajectories for water enterprises in India and Ethiopia. Carbon credits can be an additional source of revenue for water and sanitation small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that contribute to mitigating climate change.  This additional income can be instrumental to these SMEs’ efforts to scale, increase their profitability and sustainability, and attract investments.

The paper ‘Mobilising investments for water and sanitation enterprises through carbon credits’ reviews Aqua for All’s experience from financing these trajectories since 2013. It also includes the findings of a study on carbon finance opportunities for the water and sanitation sector in partnership with FairClimateFund.
