Since 2002, we have unlocked capital in water and sanitation where it is needed most. By combining catalytic finance, market development and strategic partnerships, we enable sustainable access to water and sanitation for millions of people. These figures reflect both the scale of our work and the strength of the market systems we contribute to build.
Access to safe water and sanitation requires more than funding individual projects. It requires strong markets that continue to grow long after our involvement ends.
Our de-risking mechanisms are meant to mobilise additional capital into water and sanitation sector. We use catalytic finance to reduce investment risks, mobilise additional capital and strengthen water and sanitation markets. Alongside our financial instruments, we provide grants, knowledge and capacity building to support enterprises and financial institutions become investment-ready, scale their impact and deliver sustainable services.
We take a systems-level perspective to transforming the water and sanitation sector. By improving the market, developing the financial ecosystem and building capacity and knowledge, together with our partners we create a water and sanitation sector that can continue to serve communities well into the future.
We aim to strengthen the systems that make safe water and sanitation possible. While improved services are the ultimate goal, we also assess progress from a systems change perspective. This means looking beyond immediate results to the longer-term changes that enable sustainable water and sanitation services. Ultimately, our success is measured by whether markets continue to function and grow beyond our support.
